2011 was such a great year! My two passions, photography and CrossFit, came together in the best way. I was fortunate to be offered assignments to shoot the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games regional competitions in Canada, Europe, Seattle and Los Angeles. The cherry-on-top was being hired to photograph the big finale of this worldwide fitness competition in July.
I am proud of my work with CrossFit both in the gym and on the field. I hope you enjoy this recap of images captured during my two favorite regionals - Europe and Southern California - and the Finals held at the Home Depot Center in the L.A. area.
If this doesn't get my fellow crossfitters excited for the Opens in a few weeks, I don't know what will. :)

A word about Greg Glassman, the waving man pictured above. He is the founder of CrossFit, and I got to meet him this time around. He is special to many crossfitters like myself. He has created this method of strength, conditioning and community, which is unlike anything I've experienced in sports before. I wish I would have been prepared for running into him as I would have thanked him for everything CrossFit has done for me. I've lost over 50 pounds (and counting) since becoming a member at CrossFit Fort Vancouver. And I gained fitness, confidence and happiness that I had been lacking for the past 20 years.
I love CrossFit so much that I became Level 1 certified and Olympic Lifting certified (by Mike Burgener himself!) Those are the other two highlights of my year in sports. I now coach beginners in our box, and I love passing on the knowledge, sport and sense of community that is CrossFit. I just wish I had thought to say all of that to him in person. If you haven't tried CrossFit yet and you want to, send me a message and get some!
CROSSFT: Constantly varied, functional movement executed at high intensity...3,2,1 GO!!
Best wishes for health and happiness in 2012. ~ Cheryl
